Designing a MSR
Each MSR tent is made with meticulous attention to detail - the kind of details that keep you dry and comfortable. Add our features together and you'll see why MSR has set so many industry standards for construction and innovation.
Mighty, because MSR constructed the tents to withstand the harshest weather a mountain can throw at you - even a fire hose strength monsoon. Wheater you are climbing big walls on Baffin Island or scrambling up a local peak, rest assured that the tents' weather-bender construction, including continuous pole sleeves, the highest rated waterproof fabrics and our Compression Tension(TM) Design will protect you.
Smart, because of MSR's attention to detail. Lightweight fabrics and poles, efficient and patented geometries, the world's first field-repair zippers and practical gear storage systems all contribute to the tent's livability, comfort and value.
At MSR we take our product testing seriously, which is why we send our gear to the ends of the earth to make sure it holds up. We also devise our own tests to measure the integrity of our equipment.
The new 4-season Fury made a trip to the local fire station where we let fire fighters have at it. After a torrential onslaught of up to 150 psi of water pressure - the same pressure used to fight house fires - the fire fighters were amazed to find the tent still standing and dry inside. When we say mighty, we can prove it.
A good tent design balances many considerations. It should be a light as possible, without sacrificing reliability and durability. It should provide a strong barrier between you and the harsh weather outside, yet allow sufficient ventilation for comfort. And it should be livable enough that you don't mind playing game after game of Solitaire in your tent during a multi-day storm.
All of these features combined are what make up MSR's new line of reliable tents. They are simply dryer, lighter and more livable than other tents.
