- Construction: Single profiled sleeping bag with one layer of softie insulation.
- Snug fit Hood =The quilted top of the bag is tailored, pleated, and fitted with a draw cord so it pulls into shape, rather like a jacket hood.
- Anti-snag Zip = To prevent the 2-way zip from snagging either the zip baffle or the bag edges, an "anti-snag strip" of webbing is sewn in behind the zip. (All zipped bags.)
- Liner Fastening and Hanging Tabs = Inner tabs are provided to keep a loose liner in position, corresponding in position with the tabs we provide on our liners. External tabs allow you to easily hang the bag for airing and drying.
- Circle Foot = Tapering the bag to a circle foot creates the "mummy" shape which is easy to warm and minimizes the weight of material used.
- Zip Baffle = Hard to see in the picture, but a zip baffle runs the full length of the bag, behind the zip,to prevent heat escaping through the zip area.
- Reinforced Foot = Sleep with your boots on!
- Zip Together = Buy a left and a right hand to make a double (please check when ordering)

My initial impression of the Snugpak Softie was how soft it was. The fabric felt "silky soft".
The Merlin 3 Softie is filled with a synthetic fiber yet is not quilted as other bags. SnugPak calls this Profiling. Profiling is stated to add 30% more loft without affecting weight or pack size. The Snugpak pamphlet claims that the fibers have such a "remarkable degree of strength" that the fibers are able to support themselves with out the need for quilting to keep them in place.

Softie Premier uses the same basic principles as traditional softie but improvements in extrusion technology and binding resins result in a finer, softer and more durable insulation.  Paratx Xtremes the name suggests this fabric is used on the cream of Snugpak's products giving a great balance between aesthetics and performance.
 Paratex Lights a lightweight highly windproof water repellent fabrics, exceptionally breathable and able to wick moisture away from source, ideal for sleeping bag linings and mid layer insulated clothing.
 ReflectathermReflectatherm this metallized fabric is designed to reflect heat and retain warmth. A highly breathable material, which adds little to the weight or pack size of the product and provides at least 15% additional warmth whilst being undetectable by touch in the sleeping bag or garment.
