Ideal at long and short distances, the APEX has 60 lumens of light, regulated LEDs, 5 modes, heat regulation, & a battery power meter.
The Apex is the pinnacle of waterproof LED head lamp design, boasting up to 60 lumens of output. With its four light levels, safety flash mode, and impact-resistant design, the Apex is an ideal head lamp for any hard core adventure. The Apex combines a regulated three-watt Max bright LED with four regulated Ultra bright LEDs, for Constant Brightness on all modes. Switching modes has never been easier ?the dual switch system allows you to independently control the intense, smooth, long-range lighting from the Max bright LED, and the wide-angle, close-range lighting from the four Ultra bright LEDs. Proprietary heatsink technology allows the LEDs to burn brighter and longer. The Apex is compatible with alkaline, lithium, and rechargeable batteries.
LED Optic Collimator:
A collimator gathers all available light from an LED in the form of scattered rays and re-emits the light as parallel rays, making it more optically efficient than a standard reflector. Princeton Tec calibrates each collimator to the type of LED and application of each light. With proprietary optimized collimator/lens systems, Princeton Tec continues to advance LED technology.
Ultra bright LED:
The highest quality LED available from Nichia, the Ultra bright LED is bright and efficient. The smooth, white, wide-beam light emitted by Ultra bright LEDs is ideal for close- to mid-range tasks. Ultra bright LEDs are usually grouped together to offer a more powerful light source. Advances currently underway will continue to improve the efficiency and brightness of Ultra bright LEDs.
Regulated LED/Constant Brightness:
Princeton Tec lights that feature regulated LEDs have a sophisticated regulating circuit that maintains initial brightness as long as the batteries have sufficient voltage. Traditional lights are very bright initially, but immediately begin to dim and continue to dim until the batteries are drained. Constant Brightness is a term used to describe products that have regulated LEDs.
Battery Power Meter:
The battery power meter provides you with continuous feedback on the condition of the batteries, indicating high, medium or low battery life. This information allows you to make educated decisions about changing batteries or packing spare batteries.
