The LED Lenser H7R Rechargeable LED Headlamp features the LED Lenser patented Advanced Focus System, a reflector-lens system that not only focuses the light to form a super-bright, long-distance beam, but also generates an easy-to-read-by, circular low beam. The powerful H7R also features a stageless dimming function, allowing you to adjust from 100% to 15% power, and everywhere in between. The eco-friendly LED Lenser H7R is rechargeable, and can also be operated with three standard AAA batteries.

Traditionally light-focusing systems have consisted of either a lens, or a reflector. Lenses have the advantage of emitting a homogenous light pattern for distances almost 70% of the light is scattered and lost.
Conversely, while reflectors do a better job of capturing a higher percentage of light for long-distances, when they are used for up-close reading scattered light causes "rings" and "holes" in the light pattern leading to eye fatigue.
In both these cases, the lumen count (brightness) loses its validity as light is misdirected and wasted. That's why we decided to try something different.
If you pull together the strengths of the lens and reflector into one combined system, you achieve clear, homogeneous light spill for up-close reading and a sharply-focused beam for long-distance viewing.
This is exactly what we've done with the Advanced Focus System (AFS); a unique and patented lens/reflector optic. AFS means reading the map up-close is easy on the eyes and then focusing to find the path or landmark in the distance, clear and bright.
FLOATING CHARGE SYSTEM
Recharge out of thin air. Or so it would seem with our unique, Floating Charge System (patent-pending). Most recharging systems require fiddling with docking stations for your batteries; seemingly endless cords; and countless times disassembling and assembling the light itself to insert the charged batteries. What if you could simply pop your light up to a magnet and go? Well now you can. Simply mount the recharging system on the wall and plug it in. When you're ready to recharge your flashlight, just touch the end-cap with magnet to the floating charge magnet and walk away. A charging indicator will tell you when you're ready to go again.
If you're traveling, you can simply pop off the top of the charging system and plug it into the USB adapter to charge from your lap top, car, or hotel room USB port. Because both ways of charging use the same top "cap", both have the built-in shortage prevention. A red light will blink and shut the system down, should you misalign the charging system. Best of all you can store your light in the charging system for as long as you want with no memory effects. It's like a storage and charging system all in one. Perfect for the home, shop, office, car, vacation, and more.
LED Lenser rechargeable Headlamp use almost the same type of charging system, minus the wall mount. With the H7R simply plug one end of the charger into the side of your headlamp's battery pack the other into the wall. For the H7R you have the additional option of using a USB adaptor to charge your Headlamp. Instead of plugging the one end into the wall you can plug it into your computer, car, hotel, or any USB port to charge. Either way, there's no fiddling with batteries, and no battery memory so you can keep it plugged in as long as you like.
Energy Tank is a measure of how efficiently a flashlight uses battery power. In other words, it is a measure of the output of all batteries in a light, and how long those batteries last. Energy Tank is measured in Watt hours. The higher the Energy Tank number, the more efficient the light.
Think of Energy Tank as the gas tank - how large it is. Think of batteries as the gas in the tank - the grade of gasoline. The engine, in this case the light, determines how efficiently you use that gas and how long it will last. LED Lenser lights have the best "engines" on the market. They are manufactured to be brighter and with longer run times with the same or lower cost batteries (at the time of delivery to the consumer) than the competition.
