Home : Back Packs : Badlands Packs

The following are featured on all Badlands Packs.
Back to Index
KX032 Fabric
We have built our products out of just about every fabric known to man. The problem is, we have been known to be a bit "picky" when it comes to these things. We always found something we didn't like, or we thought could be improved. Either the fabric was to loud, not durable enough, or did not resist water well enough. So, as the old adage goes, "if you want something done right, do it yourself," and that is exactly what we did. The result is the new KX032 (denoting how many prototypes we went through). It is without question the strongest, quietest, and most durable fabric on the planet.
Scent Vents
So does all this scent masking technology really work? That is the question we ask as well. Decked in our "white lab coats" we set out to find an answer. We loaded a pack with the most "smelly substance" we could find (blue cheese), let it sit for two days, and "took a whiff". WOW, it actually did work!...until someone lifted up the pack and the pressure pushed the smell through the zippers. So to make these new tech fabric effective, we had to control where the pack breathed. Hence, the Scent Vents - they control where the air passes through out packs, and the only place it does is through Scent Lock Fabric. It is the most effective way yet to control odors from your pack.
Thermo-molded Memory Foam
When looking for the "full package" so to speak, omit one thing (like brains or looks) and the rest falls apart. With backpacks, comfort is what ties it all together and we go to great lengths to ensure that nothing else every comes close. All Badlands packs have been articulated to match the natural shape of the human body, so when you put it on it fits you as it should. And since you shape is different than anybody else's we use a specially developed type of memory foam that will actually begin to match you unique shape.
Split Belt
As diverse and multifaceted as the human body is, strangely enough it has only one part that is designed for bearing heavy loads. The hip, or pelvic bone area (next to the jaw bone) and is designed to sustain and carry heavy loads. That is why we design all of our carry systems to transfer weight to this region of your body. However, the hip area has it's limitations as well: prolonged pressure and weight can bruise the illiac crest and cause you some nice misery.
That is why we have developed the Split Belt it takes the load and wraps it around the bone, carrying the weight over a greater area, instead of centralizing it. The result is all day and next morning comfort that no other pack can compete with.

Arimid Bar tacking
So why would a hunting company use yellow thread on their packs? Well it wasn't the color that attracted us, it was part of our quest to produce the "toughest damn packs ever." The chain of durability has three links: fabric, construction, and thread. We simply wanted the best, which led us to the use of Arimid threads. One strand of this amazing material can lift 110 lbs. and we use it at every stress point on the pack. The only down side we could fine to this stuff was it's cost, $350.00 a spool. However, not having an equipment failure in the field.....Priceless. Try asking the other pack manufactures out there about Arimids and they will probably tell you "yea, he was a great boxer in the 70's."

Hypalon Stress Points
If you want fabric to be quiet, flexible, and easy to manage, there will be limits to it's strength...even with our amazing new KX032 fabric. Which got us thinking about elk and moose, ( it doesn't take much...eh?) Actually, not so much about the animals themselves as their weight. How do you stop fabric from tearing under this kind of stress, when it's hard enough to keep the cartilage in you knees from ripping? Hypalon, Son, that's where the future is. This material defies all logic: it is flexible, stays supple in cold weather and you can tow a truck with the stuff - it will not tear under any circumstances and we are the only hunting company to use it. This is quite important when you are also the only company in the industry offering an UNCONDITIONAL LIFETIME WARRANTY on our products.
Bow Belt
Bows are getting lighter and lighter, however, they are still awkward and a pain to carry for any length of time. So this year we offer you the world renowned, unsurpassed, Badlands Bow Belt. Walk for miles through the most technical terrain without a worry, nor whimper, with your bow safe and secure. It adjusts to fit any size bow and will make you wonder how you ever go along without it.
